  • Poverty alleviation is one of the highest priority activities in Bangladesh as well as all over the world. The "Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF)" was established by an act of the Parliament by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in November 1999 with the aim of successfully conducting this program. PDBF is a statutory, self-governing, non-profit, self-reliant, non-banking financial institution. At the beginning of the creation of PDBF, It were RD-2 RPP, RD-12 project and rural finance program. The Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) has been implementing these projects with financial and technical assistance from Canadian CIDA since 1984.  These were the first disadvantaged welfare programs in the public sector which were later transformed into an autonomous permanent organization called the "Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF)" .The microfinance movement has shown that While financial commodities provide some of their needs, a prosperous market is also there. The poor are an active group in any economy. PDBF has shown that in addition to meeting their needs, subsidiaries can also benefit. In addition to micro-credit, PDBF operates micro-enterprise loans (SELPs) to improve the socio-economic status of rural disadvantaged people.
